Work History In Education: Formerly employed by the Rochester School District as a Special Education Para and previously taught high school biology and physical science (Hartford, South Dakota). Instructed university biology lab (SDSU), taught science at Learning Options, (Brookings, SD), served on LOFTI (Learning Organization for Technology Integration). Participated in the Technology Integration Model Conferences (Rapid City, SD). Assisted in facilitating cultural awareness trainings in Taejon, South Korea and taught university students English in Kunming, China. In Management: Head Program Development Coordinator for an organization supporting independent living (Fargo ND). Program Manager for a mental health drop-in center (Moorhead, MN). Team Lead/Supervisor for a medical needs adult living residence (Worthington, MN). In Government: Currently serving on the Rochester City Council to listen and advocate for the residents in Ward 6 and amplifying the needs of the under-represented throughout Rochester. Previously worked in the Hart Senate Building (Washington, DC). Assisted with Senator George McGovern convention, served on the International Advisory Council, elected senator for College of Arts/Science, and served on the Harding Lecture board (Brookings, SD). Education: Earned a Bachelor of Science Degree (2003) from South Dakota State University with secondary SD teaching certification in biology, government, and social sciences Currently pursuing a Masters degree in the field of Organizational Leadership Community Activities: Mayo Clinic hospice volunteer focusing on “Healing Adventure Camp” (active since 2008), taught discovery science with Rochester Community Education, facilitated elementary OWL (Our Whole Lives), volunteered with Gateway Science Fair, organized Rochester Co-op preschool, co-leader of an amazing Red River Valley Girl Scout troop, served several terms on the PAIIR Advisory Council (Parents are Important in Rochester), member of Churchill/Hoover PTA, hosted National Night Outs and neighborhood attitude adjustment gatherings, participated in March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, Litter-bit-better program, Adopt a Highway and Special Olympics. Served on a church Board of Directors and on numerous parenting focused committees. Family: We moved to our current Elton Hills home in 2007 - blessed with three amazing children who attend three supportive neighborhood schools. I also view my Ward 6 neighbors who welcomed me as part of my family. I am sincerely honored to represent their voices on the City Council. Thank you. |
