About Rochester Fire Department
First Class City, First Class Services
The Rochester Fire Department (RFD) was established in 1866, making this year our 150th Anniversary. To mark this Sesquicentennial Celebration, RFD will be hosting many events throughout the year.
As the City of Rochester has grown, so too has the fire department. RFD now respond to more than 10,000 calls for service every year. These calls range from structure fires and medical emergencies to specialized technical rescues and hazardous material responses. Rochester has five fire stations staffed 24 hours a day to respond to emergencies.
