City of Rochester Parks & Recreation Department seeks community feedback on Rolling Green playground renovation and park improvements

February 12, 2024 – ROCHESTER, MINN. – The City of Rochester Parks and Recreation Department seeks input on playground renovations and park improvements at Rolling Green Park (3860 21 Avenue NW) in Rochester.

The current playground equipment was installed in the 1990s and is deteriorating. A portion of the 2020 Park Referendum passed by the Rochester Community will replace the playground and make improvements at Rolling Green Park.

Park staff have been working with a playground consultant to prepare options for replacement and would like neighborhood input before deciding on a final design. Two open houses will allow the neighborhood to learn more and provide input on the project. Additional project information is available here.

Park Planner Jeff Feece shares, “We are excited to be able to use park referendum dollars to do some needed renovations at Rolling Green Park. The project will allow us to improve access to the playground and mitigate ongoing drainage issues.”

The playground replacement will occur in the fall of 2024 and will include:

  • Removal of the existing equipment and border
  • Excavation of the new container
  • Installation of the new equipment, border, and safety surfacing
  • Installation of a sidewalk for access to the playground
  • Installation of drainage tile

The playground will likely be out of use for 4 to 5 weeks during construction.
