Access to safe environments, designed to encourage physical activity and promote health in a community, was the impetus behind the first-in-the-state Bicycle Playground in Rochester.

The Rochester Bicycle Playground is a miniature street pattern specially designed to help children (and adults) learn basic bike handling and braking skills, become familiar with roadway marking and signs, and learn skills related to operating a bicycle in and adjacent to traffic.

The Bicycle Playground will provide parents and cycling instructor’s safe places to teach children and adults the basics of riding a bicycle. This purpose-built place is designed for teaching road safety awareness modeled on the League Cycling Instructor curriculum.
