Rochester was first designated as a Bronze-Level Bicycle Friendly Community (BFC) in 2010 and was re-designated in 2014, 2018 and 2022. Rochester, with the assistance of the Rochester Olmsted Council of Governments (ROCOG), worked closely with the League of American Bicyclists (LAB) to earn recognition for Rochester as one of the first Bicycle Friendly Communities in Minnesota in 2010.  

Green Steps Cities: Rochester maintains its Step 5 Status with Minnesota GreenStep Cities, a voluntary challenge, assistance, and recognition program to help cities achieve their sustainability and quality-of-life goals.  Visit the Minnesota Greenstep Cities Website to learn more about the program and Rochester's performance.

Rochester was awarded Minnesota’s first LEED Gold City designation by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), in recognition of the City’s effort to achieve significant municipal sustainability and resiliency goals.  View the digital press release.
