Park Board Mission

The Park Board will oversee the park system and services for recreational and leisure enjoyment, as developed and gifted by past generations, for current and future generations of residents and visitors by:

  • preserving and enhancing city parkland, facilities, green space, and natural resources;
  • promoting healthy lifestyles and sense of community;
  • providing policy direction to the Park and Recreation Department management.

Park Board Meeting Procedures 

Park Board meetings are typically held the first Tuesday of each month at 4:30 p.m. in Room 104 of City Hall unless otherwise noted on the agenda.

Community Engaged Resources - Community Engaged Resources can include money and supplies for projects or activities with the park system initiated by Rochester residents and approved by the Park Commissioners. This annual funding source is dedicated from the 2020 Park Referendum that was passed by Rochester voters. Annually there is $100,000 available but project proposals could be as small as a $100. Proposals can be submitted at any time but will be reviewed in a Parks & Rec. Board meeting in April and October.  Proposal can be submitted to your ward's Park Board Commissioner.  This is a pilot project.  Click Here for the application and additional details.
