ChionobayChinobay, a musician and cultural ambassador from Uganda, spreads Africa's vibrant rhythms and melodies globally, inspiring and uplifting audiences. Rooted in the rich musical traditions of the Buganda kingdom, he revitalizes classics and masters traditional instruments, creating original compositions that highlight Africa's diverse stories.

Known for his innovative approach, Chinobay bridges cultures through his music, earning acclaim for preserving traditional Ugandan sounds while incorporating global influences. His band features musicians from various African countries, blending Ugandan folk music with styles like Afrobeat and jazz, using traditional instruments to honor Africa's musical heritage.

Beyond music, Chinobay uses his art for social change. As a UNICEF youth ambassador, he has championed education for marginalized girls and founded the World Bridge Foundation, improving lives through arts and education. His Dance of Hope program transforms children's lives through music and dance, showcasing his commitment to creating a just, compassionate, and united world.

A weekly summer staple of downtown Rochester, Thursdays Downtown combines arts, music, food, and a vendor market into one free community-uniting, block-party-style event! Every week, enjoy life, feel a sense of place, and interact with others at Thursdays Downtown. Your taste buds will be satisfied with enticing foods and musical styles, too. The festival runs every Thursday from June 13 - August 15, except July 4.
