This episode of Riverside Concerts' online music show "Live from Med City" features Rochester natives and pop-punk upstarts Under the Pavilion. This show was recorded "live" in the summer of 2020 at Riverside Concerts' drive-in style "Car Park Concerts" in the 125 Live Community Center parking lot.
With 70's punk and garage band influences, Under the Pavilion's music features melodic guitar riffs, driving drums and loud bass! Founding members Pat Obert, guitar/lead vocals, and Adam Lien, bass, have been collaborating since college and released their first album, When We Started, February 2019. Joining them, Alex Smith on guitars and Alex Ortberg on drums, the group released a new single "Sixteenth Street" along with the B-Side "NASCAR" November 2019 in preparation for their second full length studio album. Following their album release the group signed on and began working with Merrifield Records created by Mike Hindert, bassist for The Bravery. Throughout the years the group has played with many notable groups including Har Mar Superstar, Bad Bad Hats and Yam Haus. Under the Pavilion continues to gig throughout the regional area as well as play local festival gigs such as Big Turn Music Fest and Thursday's on First.
Riverside Concerts, the City of Rochester's music department, presents "Live from Med City", an online video digest of all things arts and entertainment in Rochester, MN. The "Live from Med City" concept was conceived with the objective to spotlight the many “live arts experiences” Rochester (home of the world renowned Mayo Clinic) has to offer, featuring artists from around the block and from all over the world, and filmed in some of our finest and most unique venues. Focusing first on Riverside Concerts’ own presentations, but with an eye toward broadening the coverage to include presentations from other local organizations in the future.
Brought to you by the Friends of Riverside Concerts with additional support by the Mayo Clinic. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support Grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
