This episode of Riverside Concerts' online music show "Live from Med City" features the Winona, MN-based indie-funk-rock band Karate Chop, Silence. This show was recorded "live" in the summer of 2020 at Riverside Concerts' drive-in style "Car Park Concerts" in the 125 Live Community Center parking lot.
Picture your favorite karate movie. Now imagine that the actors used instruments instead of their fists. Now imagine that instead of studying martial arts, they studied jazz and were taught by modern radio instead of a Sensei - and also knew nothing about karate. Karate Chop, Silence is sorta like that. Based out of Winona, Minnesota, KCS is a funky alt-rock quartet with strong pop influences and a flair for groovy melodies that leave audiences wishing they brought an extra pair of socks. With a keen sense of catchy, dance-friendly music and uncanny chemistry, Karate Chop, Silence leaves everything on the stage and maintains a level of performance energy that’s bound to bring audiences to their level of intensity by the end of the show.
Riverside Concerts, the City of Rochester's music department, presents "Live from Med City", an online video digest of all things arts and entertainment in Rochester, MN. The "Live from Med City" concept was conceived with the objective to spotlight the many “live arts experiences” Rochester (home of the world renowned Mayo Clinic) has to offer, featuring artists from around the block and from all over the world, and filmed in some of our finest and most unique venues. Focusing first on Riverside Concerts’ own presentations, but with an eye toward broadening the coverage to include presentations from other local organizations in the future.
Brought to you by the Friends of Riverside Concerts with additional support by the Mayo Clinic. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support Grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
