This webpage is a resource for community members to learn more about Neighborhood Information Meetings (NIMs).

NIMs are a means for potential developers to inform neighbors and interested community members of a proposed project in an informal setting. The City of Rochester requires potential developers host a NIM for specific types of Land Development projects. A NIM is not a full review of the project, but rather it is an opportunity for the public to learn about the project and share any thoughts or ideas with the development team.

I received a Neighborhood Information Meeting postcard...

NIM Postcard Example Neighborhood Information Meeting (NIM) Notice Postcards are sent when a developer is hosting a Neighborhood Information Meeting. Postcards are typically delivered to property owners and tenants within 350 feet of the project location. Learn more about NIMs, the application type, and the project by following the steps below:

Step 1: Learn about NIMs by reviewing the NIM application guide:

Step 2: Identify the "Application Type" on the postcard and review the corresponding application guide:

Step 3: Identify the "Meeting Date & Time" on the postcard and find the event on the "Upcoming Meetings" calendar. Click on the calendar event to find documents submitted by the developer, a virtual meeting link, and other details.

What materials will the applicant cover in the meeting?

At Neighborhood Information Meetings (NIMs), applicants will:

Provide relevant Community Guides to attendees
Share a presentation about their proposed project; example templates show the type of information that applicants are required to share:
Provide Community Members an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback

How can I find information on public hearings?

Prior to a Public Hearing, Public Hearing Notice signs are posted at the site of the proposed development. The signs are intended to inform community members about proposed developments and provide an opportunity to get involved through upcoming public hearings.

Public Hearings are open to everyone. At public hearings, you will have the opportunity to raise questions and concerns to the council or commission reviewing or approving the application.
