Dear Rochester Public Course Golfer,
The beauty of Minnesota is in our weather. We tolerate extremes to get great averages. Like a present at Christmas, we wake to a surprise each morning. Perhaps a gaudy sweater or fruit cake will greet us as we open our eyes. However, just every once in a while, certainly at random and usually unpredicted, the sun will brighten our day and a robin will greet us outside our window. That was yesterday April 16th and our first, maybe our only, spring day in 2013.
Hadley Creek was a bustling golf practice facility. Four golf teams pounded divot after divot out of the soggy turf. The chipping greens were full and the first tee was standing room only. I hope you didn't miss this glorious day.
Yesterday was out of character for our spring. We seem to be back to normal this morning and the forecast is for more of the same. Like a basketball player throwing 4 straight passes out of bounds, a good coach loves consistency. However, days become shorter starting June 21st, that is only 2 months away, so something will change; it will be the calendar.
I am attaching a poster to the front page, this morning. It is in support of the Habby Classic Golf Tournament June 8, 2013 at Eastwood Golf Course. All proceeds go to The First Tee of Rochester. We are trying to make this a huge success to help fund TFT every year. This event won't be the same without you.
