These fires involve such things as vehicles, utilities, residential structures such as single and multi-family housing, and commercial structures such as stores, factories, offices, and hospitals. Water supply for firefighting is provided by the engines on-board water tank and fire hydrants connected to the municipal water system.

Rural Fire Suppression

The Rochester Fire Department (RFD) is contracted to provide fire suppression to Cascade, Rochester, Haverhill, and Marion Townships. Firefighting within these areas and in the non-hydrant areas within the city limits is performed utilizing engine companies, tankers, reserve engine companies, and on some occasions, truck companies responding from 4 stations located within the Rochester city limits. These fires involve such things as vehicles, utilities, residential structures, and agriculture structures. Water supply for firefighting is provided by the engines on-board water tank and by the water dumped from a tanker into a portable tank.
