Schedule of Elections/Candidates for Election

Date of Election:
The date of the Primary and General elections will be entered when election calendar is created.
Primary election - July 30, 2013
General election - September 17 (if needed) - if a candidate gets more than 50% of the votes at the July 30 election, then that person would be declared the winner.

  • Byron Clark (Filed on June 4)
  • Mark Hickey (Filed on June 4)
  • Shaun Palmer (Filed on June 4)

Filing Dates

8 am to 5 pm, June 4-18, in person at the City Clerk's office, City Hall, 201 4th Street SE, Rochester MN 55904


Withdrawal of Candidacy

If a person files for an office, and later decides to withdraw from candidacy, an affidavit of withdrawal of candidacy must be filed in the City Clerk's Office no later than 5 pm on Kime 19.

$50.00


Qualifications for 5th Ward Councilmember:

  • Must be a resident of the ward for which the person is running for at least 30 days prior to filing for candidacy for the office.*
  • Must be a qualified voter in the State of Minnesota*
  • Candidates filing for office must be 21 years of age or more when the oath of said office is taken.  (Oath of office will be taken on the first Monday in January (date of first Council meeting), on  ____ (date will be entered when election calendar is created sometime in early ENTER NON-PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR).
  • Candidates may not file for any other office to be voted on at said Charter Election to be held on (date of general election) - (date will be entered when election calendar is created sometime in early ENTER NON-PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION YEAR).


Term of office:

Term will expire at the end of December, 2014.
